Jake's T-Shirt Quilt

When Jake left for Germany, he left me a huge bag of t-shirts from which he wanted me to make a quilt.  I've made a few of these, and they are tedious, but they turn out to be really fun.  It's a good way to save memories of high school sports, and a good way to use all those t-shirts without taking up closet space.  This one is looking good.  I just put it together and pinned it for machine quilting.  Since he went to Mountain View High School, I pieced some "mountains" across the top in school colors!
Here it is all finished and bound!

Our newest addition...

This is Cana Lily meeting her new little sister Rosa Lee.

Beautiful mother with her newborn child.

Even more strings in 2013

I made two more string quilts from Michele's scraps...more of the same, except I splurged and bought a Batik fabric at a quilt shop in Kuna (Nancy's Quilts) for the back.  It's much more beautiful than the picture and it goes perfectly with the fabrics I used for the front.  The second quilt is backed with a Walmart print that looks fine, but not rich!

There are 3 babies to be born in our ward family that will receive these.  I think these gift quilts will be unlike any other blankets or quilts they receive!
