I have made many more tote bags, but my computer was broken and I couldn't post, so I didn't get pictures of all of them. Here are a few that were used as achievement awards for my piano students and gifts for friends.

Braved the Buzz Cut
Tim talked for a few years about cutting his hair very short. He finally did it at the beginning of summer 2013. Here are some before and after pictures to document his bravery.
He has really liked his hair short, and it is even shorter now. Good move!
Back and sides were curly.

Go Baby Quilt for...
Cyndi sent me a link to a quilt that she saw online last year that she thought was cute. She's going to have a baby in July, but we don't know the gender. I made my own version of it with different fabric. The original pattern had roads and cars on it, but I couldn't find any fabric like that. I am happy with how this one turned out!
I love the bugs, rodents and tunnels and the bright colors on the back.
I tried to find fabrics for the arrows in the same colors as the animals on the back.
I think the front looks really busy and fun for a baby to play on!

I also made a tote for her mother's birthday:
And another tote for my neighbor Bonnie's birthday:
The tote fabrics are more scraps from my friend Michele!!!

Golden Wedding Photo Quilt for Angela
I'm not a very good photographer, as is quite obvious in this post and others; however, I still try to document the things I make--even if it's less than professional! This quilt was made for a friend of a friend, Angela, for her parents' golden wedding anniversary. She worked really hard and spent a lot of time putting together the photos for the quilt. I tried to show a close-up of the quilting done by my friend Amy Carter. The quilt is approximately 65 inches square. I think Angela's parents will cherish it!

Tote Bags!
I like to watch sewing/quilting ideas from the Missouri Quilt Company. Jenny Doan did a video on how to make a simple tote bag. I made the floral one the size shown on the video. Then I made the blue one a little bigger. Cyndi said she wanted a HUGE bag for hauling swimming gear for the kids in the summer. Found the fish fabric in my stash and added scraps to come up with that one. It's a little different looking, but it will do the job! It has big pockets on the inside for diapers and snacks and a little clip on the strap so the car keys won't get lost in the abyss!
A Quilt for Christy
With more fabric donations from Michele, I had enough to make a big quilt. I wanted to give it to someone special. I thought of Christy. She's always loving, giving, kind and has a smile on her face--no matter what she's dealing with in her life. I would do well to be more like her. I hope she feels a big hug and lots of love when she snuggles in her quilt. I mailed it to her today!
Block detail.
I love the bright, modern colors.

Even more strings in 2013
I made two more string quilts from Michele's scraps...more of the same, except I splurged and bought a Batik fabric at a quilt shop in Kuna (Nancy's Quilts) for the back. It's much more beautiful than the picture and it goes perfectly with the fabrics I used for the front. The second quilt is backed with a Walmart print that looks fine, but not rich!
There are 3 babies to be born in our ward family that will receive these. I think these gift quilts will be unlike any other blankets or quilts they receive!
